Silver Pearl Tree of Life – 25th & 30th Anniversary Gift, 88 Freshwater Pearls, Handmade

Made for two people and small enough for any room, this silver Tree of Life holds 88 natural freshwater pearls, each about 8 mm across, spread over 22 slender branches. We shape the whole tree by hand from 13 m (43 ft) of silver-plated copper wire. At the base, the roots grip decorative stones in a small ceramic bowl. Silver marks the 25th wedding anniversary and pearl the 30th, so one tree celebrates both. Pearl is also the birthstone of June.

A SILVER WEDDING IN VIENNA

For the silver wedding of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth in April 1879, the city of Vienna gave them a gift that could not be wrapped: a parade of around 14,000 people in sixteenth-century costume along the new Ringstrasse, designed by the painter Hans Makart. It is still remembered as the Makart-Festzug.
