Lingonberry Pink Thulite Tree of Life – Gift for a Knitter, 46 Natural Thulite Stones, Copper, Silver or Gold Wire, Personalized Bowl

A handmade Thulite Tree of Life in lingonberry pink: 46 small polished natural thulite spheres in berry pinks with darker flecks and pale streaks, like a hand-knitted Nordic sweater in red, rose and cream. Each one is wired by hand onto a little tree set in a white ceramic bowl with white pebbles that you can personalize with a name or a few words for someone who is never without a ball of yarn.

Thulite is a pink form of the mineral zoisite, and Norway counts it among its national stones. In crystal tradition it is a stone of warmth and joy, and it is often linked with the sign of Scorpio. On 13 December Scandinavia celebrates St Lucia Day, with candles in the darkest weeks of the year, a cosy day for a gift from the north.

A STONE FROM THULE

Around 325 BC the Greek explorer Pytheas sailed from Massalia, today's Marseille, into the northern seas and wrote of a land called Thule, six days' sail north of Britain, near a frozen sea. Nobody is sure where he meant, but Thule came to stand for the farthest north. In the early 1800s a rose pink mineral was found on a farm at Sauland in Telemark, Norway, and by about 1820 it was known in mineral books as thulite, a name usually linked to that legendary land of the far north.
