HOW CITRINE JOINED THE BIRTHSTONES

In August 1912 American jewellers met in Kansas City and agreed on a single list of birthstones, one for each month, and for November they chose topaz. Forty years later, in 1952, the Jewelry Industry Council of America revised the list and added citrine as a second birthstone for November, a warm golden stone that was easier to find and to afford. Since then November has had two golden birthstones, and citrine has become one of the most popular of them all.
