Large Black Obsidian Tree of Life – New Home Gift for Him, 280 Natural Obsidian Stones, Copper, Silver or Gold Wire, Personalized Bowl

A large handmade Black Obsidian Tree of Life in glossy jet black: 280 polished natural black obsidian spheres, deep black and polished to a mirror like shine that picks up every reflection in the room. Each one is wired by hand onto a full, generous tree set in a white ceramic bowl that you can personalize with his name, your new address or a favourite photo.

Obsidian is natural volcanic glass, and in crystal tradition black obsidian is a stone of protection and grounding, often placed near the door of a new home and linked with the sign of Scorpio. Its bold black makes this tree a gift for him, for a housewarming, a new office or a birthday, and a striking piece for a modern black and gold interior.

A BLACK MIRROR FROM MEXICO

In the British Museum there is a round, polished mirror of black obsidian, about 18 cm across, in a leather case. It was made in Mexico by the Aztecs, from obsidian that a 2019 analysis traced to Pachuca, and was brought to Europe after the Spanish conquest. By about 1770 it belonged to the writer Horace Walpole, who wrote on its case that it was the black stone into which Dr John Dee, the scholar of Queen Elizabeth I, used to call his spirits.
