Copper Pearl Tree – Handmade Anniversary & Wedding Gift with Freshwater Pearls

Seven years of marriage is the copper anniversary and thirty years is the pearl anniversary, and this large copper Tree of Life brings both together. We shape it entirely by hand from pure copper wire and set 280 natural freshwater pearls of 6 mm along its branches, so the warm copper glows behind soft white light. The roots hold white stones in a glossy white ceramic bowl, which you can keep plain or personalize with names, a date or a photo.

A MANSION FOR A NECKLACE, NEW YORK 1917

In 1917 Pierre Cartier wanted a home for his jewelry house on Fifth Avenue in New York. The mansion belonged to the banker Morton F. Plant, whose wife Maisie had fallen in love with a Cartier double strand of 128 natural pearls. Plant agreed to trade: the house went to Cartier in exchange for the necklace plus $100 in cash. Cartier still trades from that building today, a reminder of how much a strand of pearls was once worth.
