Snowy Tree Agate Tree of Life – Gift for a Book Lover, 46 Natural Tree Agate Stones, Copper, Silver or Gold Wire, Personalized Bowl

A handmade Tree Agate Tree of Life in snowy white and fir green: 46 small polished natural tree agate spheres, white as fresh snow and threaded with dark green branching patterns like a pine forest seen through a winter window. Each one is wired by hand onto a little tree set in a white ceramic bowl with white pebbles that you can personalize with a name or a favourite line for someone who always has a book on the go.

Tree agate is named for its green branching markings, called dendrites. In crystal tradition it is a stone of patience, calm and steady growth, and it is often linked with the sign of Aquarius. It suits the long nights of the Winter Solstice and the Icelandic Christmas Eve custom of Jólabókaflóð, the Christmas book flood, when books are given and read late into the night.

A RIVER IN SICILY

Agate is one of the oldest named stones. Around 300 BC the Greek philosopher Theophrastus, a pupil of Aristotle, wrote that the stone called achates came from the river Achates in Sicily and was sold at a high price. The river is traditionally identified with today's Dirillo, in the south of the island, and through Latin and French the name of that river became our word agate.
