A handmade Moss Agate Tree of Life in deep forest green: 46 small polished natural moss agate spheres in dark green and teal with lighter flecks, like moss on stones in a shady garden after rain. Each one is wired by hand onto a little tree set in a white ceramic bowl with white pebbles that you can personalize with a name or a few words for someone who is happiest with their hands in the soil.

In crystal tradition moss agate is a stone of growth, patience and new beginnings, the gardener's stone, and it is often linked with the sign of Virgo. On 22 April the world celebrates Earth Day, a good day for a green gift for someone who loves to grow things.

THE MOCHA STONE

Despite its name, moss agate is not a true agate, because it has none of agate's banding. It is a chalcedony with green mineral filaments inside, mostly oxides of iron or manganese, that look like moss or tiny plants. It was once called the Mocha stone, after the Arabian port of Mocha in Yemen, once a source of the stone, better known today for coffee. Most fine moss agate now comes from India.
