Its bold black makes this tree a gift for him, for a housewarming, a new office or a birthday, and a striking piece for a modern black and gold interior.

A BLACK MIRROR FROM MEXICO

In the British Museum there is a round, polished mirror of black obsidian, about 18 cm across, in a leather case. It was made in Mexico by the Aztecs, from obsidian that a 2019 analysis traced to Pachuca, and was brought to Europe after the Spanish conquest. By about 1770 it belonged to the writer Horace Walpole, who wrote on its case that it was the black stone into which Dr John Dee, the scholar of Queen Elizabeth I, used to call his spirits.

WHO IS IT FOR?

A gift for a husband, a dad, a brother or a friend

A housewarming, new office or birthday gift

A Scorpio birthday gift

A bold black accent for a modern living room, study or black and gold office

MATERIALS

280 natural black obsidian spheres, polished and wired by hand one by one

Non-tarnish wire in the finish you choose at checkout: pure copper, silver-plated copper or gold-plated copper, so the colour keeps its shine for years

White ceramic bowl, plain or personalized with your text or text and photo

Every tree is unique: natural obsidian is volcanic glass, and each sphere has its own deep black shine

SIZE

Height: about 30 cm (12 in)

Width: about 23 cm (9 in)

Bowl diameter: about 10 cm (4 in)

Weight: about 0.8 kg (1.8 lb)

PERSONALIZATION STYLES

Choose the personalization style from the options above.
